To speak well,get the right teachers,then learn to relak
In the never-ending debate on the use of Singlish,has no one relised yet that "To Singlish or Not to Singlish" is not the question?
Singlish is here to stay,whether the purists(纯化论者) in us like it or not.It's a question of whether Singaporeans know how to speak good English and use it in the right situation.
This starts in the schools,as Singaporeans are largely speakers of English as a Second Language.Most grow up speaking another language with family and friends and can only learn proper English usage in schools.
It's not wrong to use Singlish,because something unique to us,and it's a language we use in informal situations - with friends,family and shopkeepers.
Can you imagine asking the drinks stall owner for "black coffee please,hold the sugar.Thanks very much."<IMG src="https://www.sgchinese.com/bbs/Skins/Default/emot/em01.gif" align=middle border=0>
A good speakers of English should be able to speak well in work and formal situations.And he or she should be able to switch to more informal speech in less restrictive situations.<IMG src="https://www.sgchinese.com/bbs/Skins/Default/emot/em17.gif" align=middle border=0>
If one has to learn a leanguage,let's teach it right and make Singaporeans believe that both forms are nessary in their lives.

From a sociolinguistic (社会语言学) point of view, 'Singlish' or Singapore Vernacular English (SVE) if I may call it, is a natural development of language change. Personally, I've got nothing against the use of 'Singlish' , but it might not be advisable for foreign students who are in Singapore to learn English to pick it up, especially if they don't intend to stay in Singapore for long.

true...i don't feel well if my friends speaking English with strong Singapore accentas you said,Singlish is a natural development of language change

as long as Singlish has the same grammars with English. For example: "he says....." not " he say" , " It does" not " It do..." For me the accent is ok.
